The mission of Annie Parker Foundation is to support, inspire and empower BRCA cancer survivors, previvors and their families through specially curated programs, partnerships and events. Help us save lives.
Annie Parker is deeply passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and men cancer patients, survivors and previvors. Why? Because she has been living, both directly and indirectly with cancer all her life. Tragically, she lost her mother to breast cancer when she was only 14 years old. Her sister, and cousin died from the same hideous disease 2 decades later. In 1980, Annie was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29. Eight years later, she fought and won the battle with stage 3 ovarian cancer. In 1988, she again waged war on an unknown primary tumour behind her liver. In 2013 Hollywood came knocking at her door and the award winning film ‘Decoding Annie Parker’ was made. Annie believes the most precious thing patients can be giving is HOPE.
Annie and her Directors are passionate about advocating for Canadians with the BRCA gene and other hereditary cancers including:
Access to a family doctor, which can lead to a delayed diagnosis of cancer.
A lack of access to required care such as pain management and palliative care after a diagnosis.
Not feeling included in your treatment plan.
Obstacles to getting the required drugs including new therapies.
Insufficient information being provided on psychosocial support systems.
And many more!
